A great little luxury car

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

I only bought this car originally because it was exempt from the London congestion charge. However, I have the top of the range Premier model and its superb. It's comfortable, very quiet, fabulous Mark Levinson audio system, very economical (over 40mpg the way I drive it) and great build quality.

A mixed bag

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

I came to this from a remarkable Lexus IS300 Sportcross which in 40 years of car ownership was by far and away the best car i have ever driven. Certainly delighted with the running costs, I bought a 3 year warranty and 3 year service plan. Needed a new auxilliary battery after we broke down late at night after a fishing trip. Sadly the Lexus breakdown service didn't know it could be jump satarted however new battery has sorted problem. Fuel economy can be ver impressive if you work at it, middling if you don't however I like the challenge. Comfortable and very good seats, best ever in my opinion. Car feels a little 'lightly' built compared to my IS300 but time will tell. I'm in it for the long run so have high hopes. Ride is terrible, 16" wheels could be the solution. Performance wise it's absolutely fine. Nice fit and finish. Would be better, much better in fact, if they can sort out the suspension. Lexus dealers are faultless and mean I will stay with the brand. I have a Mercedes estate whic is so so, just doesn't thrill me. I would consider an IS250 auto or even an IS300H if price was right. I would happily stay with Lexus forever I suspect.

Lexus CT200h Premium

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

This is the sixth Lexus I have owned working down from a LS430. Compared to other models such as the LS, RX or IS that I have owned this model does have more to a "budget" feel about it but it is comfortable, very well equipped, inexpensive to run and above all reliable. It is my retirement vehicle and running costs are a factor. In mixed driving I achieve 55 to 60mpg and there is no road tax. Servicing costs are reasonable and the dealer service has always been good. It can however be noisy when pushed but driven sensibly it is a quiet and comfortable car.

Exceedingly Brilliant

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

The quality of car for the money is outstanding, exceeding every one of my expectations. Although the advertised MPG is way off what you get, the ride build, comfort and pleasure of driving makes up for it. If you want a car that you feel great getting into each and every time you drive it then this is the car to buy.

Lexus CT 200 experience

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Smooth drive, economical, reliable, comfy, good all round vision. Never drop below 55mpg no matter how you drive it. Small boot space. Can get it serviced at a Toyota dealer as basically a Prius so it is cheaper to service than a Lexus dealership.

A sophisticated motor car

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

An excellent hybrid, better in everway than my previous top of the range Prius. The only thing missing is the head up display. The economy is good acheiving over 50 miles per gallon even on long motorway trips when averaging the speed lmit. The car is also top of the class for comfort, trim and finish. The sat nav is well positioned but is in need of an UK map update. It is easy to adgust as is the multiple choice music systems be means of a well positioned mouse. My ipone easily connects to the system allowing hands free phone calls.

Dream to Own.

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Lexus CT200h Petrol/Hybrid. Style. The CT looks brilliant. It is a hatchback, but a fine looking one, sleek and sporty from any angle. Interior and Comfort. The interior is one of the best in its class. The seats are superb in either cloth or leather. The driving position is easy to get right. The cabin is well laid out and in general it's a nice place to be. Practicality and boot space. Compared to others in this class, the CT is smaller, but not by much. The back seat legroom could be better, especially if you have a tall person in the front seat. The boot is not huge either, but enough for normal daily use of shopping etc. The back seats fold down very easily and the loading space is then a good size and completely flat. Engines, and performance. If you want to race other cars at the traffic lights, this car is not for you, buy a Golf GTI instead. Other than that the 1.7 Petrol/Hybrid engine copes well most of the time. There are three driving modes to choose from. 'Normal' is what I used mostly and I found it was not lacking other than if you needed to overtake really quickly, in which case I selected 'Sport mode' which makes the throttle more responsive and in my opinion gives plenty of poke. 'Eco' is there for those who are not in a hurry and want to save petrol, although to be honest I hardly noticed the difference in petrol and found it a bit sluggish to boot. 'EV mode' is when the electric motor takes over and this mainly clicks in at low speeds up to about 25mph, although on a downward slope it will come on at a higher speed. When in 'EV mode' the car is silent except for road noise, so be careful in car parks as pedestrians don't hear you coming. Ride. This is the one area I was disappointed in. Lexus gave the CT a sporty ride, which means it is quite firm. Some like this, others, myself included, do not. This is a luxury premium car, so in my opinion it should have a luxurious ride but sadly has an unsettled ride at low speeds and crashes over pot holes. This is a great shame as on most other accounts the car is wonderful. To a degree Lexus has addressed this issue, with newer CT's having a slightly softer ride, but still not enough for me. What a shame. MPG. The official government figures published by Lexus and used in all the advertising states this car achieves 68.9mpg. This is not possible in real world driving. My average was 48mpg (45mpg in winter and 51mpg in summer) over a four and a half year period. On some long journeys I did reach the high 50's but most were low to mid 50's. The national average is slightly higher. Still not bad for a car of this size and comparable to diesels on short journeys but lower than diesels on long journeys. Reliability. In my four and a half year ownership, covering 40k miles, I never had a need to take it to back for any fault. Says it all really. Lexus dealerships are the best. Verdict. This car has been a dream to own. I loved it, other than the firm ride. I was really reluctant to let it go, but my desire for a smoother ride forced my hand. My wife was very reluctant to see it go and did not have an issue with the ride. So, if you want a reliable, economic, comfortable, practical and cool looking car, then look no further. Just make sure the ride suits you.

Living with a Hybrid

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

So Day 1 February 2013 my tiny new Lexus F Sport arrived. I though it was my dream car - but was it? Read on... Build Quality - is and was amazing - over 60,000 miles on and not a rattle or a creak anywhere Ride: a little harsh - if you run over a 50p piece you would probably hear the suspension thump. this may be down to the overall quietness of the car where wind and tyre noise are the only real intrusions or may be due to the F Sport suspension and tyres. Engine: under hard acceleration it can sound harsh but it certainly moves a bit for a very heavy "Ford Focus" size car. Most of the time you do not hear it. Handling: Overall pretty good and great fun on country lanes. Can feel a bit jittery on poor motorway surfaces - again may be down to the F-Sport kit Toys: This car is fully laden with very decent DAB radio/cd linked to a 7" screen full sat nav that tilts and folds. The screen also gives fuel economy over given periods, live traffic info on all roads and a great radio/graphic equaliser display. you can also control heating etc through this but much easier to press the buttons. in addition dual sided climate control, auto lights, auto wipers, auto dim rear view mirror and the various options on the Lexus hybrid that include Eco, Sport and Electric Vehicle mode. there is also USB ports Bluetooth that connects not only your phone but transfers your contacts to the display and works your music player. If you have an iPhone the whole process took 10 seconds. Android was more difficult. in addition the door mirrors fold flat automatically when locking. Finally you do not need a key. it all does it by itself! Space: Possibly the only downside. Leg room in the back is tight when a 6foot adult is in the front. Also hardly room for 3 in the back more like 2. Boot space for a hybrid very good. Economy - Over 60,000 miles of hard driving with London commutes and 500 mile motorway pounding days and the average is.......55.4MPG I am more than happy with that. And (touch wood) it has done it all without missing a beat on 1 set of rear tyres and just finishing a second set of fronts

Great first hybrid

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Fabulous car, we've thoroughly enjoyed it. If you put your foot down the engine is inclined to be a bit noisy but I believe the later models have improved on this. When it switches to electric mode it can be very quiet so pedestrians aren't always aware you are there. Real economy figures are more like 50-55 mpg. In sport mode it is quite nippy. We are fortunate to have the premier, which has all the bells and whistles on it. Overall, would definitely recommend.

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Car has been 100% over the 3 years I have had it the only down side is the massive depreation over that 3 years £27000 new £11000 part ex. Still a bargain for the new owner. One thing to watch out for is the soft waterbased paint do not let bird lime stay on the bodywork it will eat through the clearcoat.

Lexus CT in the UK and Europe.

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Great build quality, comfortable when completing long European journeys. Low fuel consumption and so quiet. Plenty of space for luggage when only two are travelling, but you will need a roof box for any more than that. I have been looking for a tow bar, to transport cycles, but so far I can not find a Lexus recommended accessory.

CT200h does what it does very well

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

The Lexus CT200h is a pleasing place to sit, nice interior and great seating. Lots of kit as standard. Great car around town, really easy to drive just like a go-kart. Great fuel economy average about 50 mpg round town. Lots of space for small family. More practical than I originally thought and we've had the car for almost 5 years. Only get one with full Lexus service history.

Beautifully finished reliable luxury car

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

everytime you sit in the luxury driving seat, it feels like the first time, so many features to keep you entertained. The ride quality is smooth even with the 17" wheels. I am 6'2" and find the rear seating leg room tight without putting the front seats forward. The workmanship on the interior is high quality, looking and feeling like a more luxurious car.

Lexus CT200h SE

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Excellent value for money, excellent economy and running costs. Can be serviced cheaper at a Toyota dealership as it is the same as a Prius. Drives superb, smooth, quiet and good vision. All controls within easy reach and comfy on all types of journeys. Only drawback is a larger boot, but if you can put up with this then worth it. I have got full black leather interior which after 80,000 miles still looks brand new. I would recommend this model.

Happy

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Automatic, leather seats, hybrid, air con, sat nav and so on and on. Drives well, economical, and as fast as I want it to be. Only complaints are that the sat nav is a basic Tom Tom and that some of the displays, such as thermometer display is very small and takes time to focus on the number. It would have been better to have a central control panel for all functions instead of "all over the place." Nevertheless, a very nice, good looking car that I am quite happy with.

LEXUS CT HATCHBACK 2011-2013

Overall reliability really good, no issues in 4 years. Started to feel it's age, lots of creaks and rattles, tailgate stays were getting stiff, very poor mpg 40 ish at best; no regrets in picking it but glad it's gone, I wouldn't recommend a Lexus CT to anyone, slow and noisy, Initial dealer was extremely poor, soured the whole experience, only reason to have it was company car tax advantages, now not worth it at all, returned to a diesel!
