Great Car with Great Economy

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

I bought this car new and one of the seeing points was the economy. However, it does not come anywhere near the stated figures, but around town i am getting about 40 MPG and 55 on the motorway The car drives quite well, Silent around car parks, The cabin is a little tight if you are a larger chap. But the overall quality is Superb and turns heads.

Lexus IS300h F Sport

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

If you are looking for a refined, good looking, reliable and fairly economical premium sport saloon this is definitely one you should consider. It's rather a left field choice as their is no diesel option but instead you have the choice of a turbo petrol or in this case a hybrid system. The hybrid system requires a different style of driving to get the best out of it and needs you to make good use of reading the road ahead and to use the momentum of the vehicle rather than outright point and squirt approach that you likely have with a torquey diesel engine. If you drive with this in mind then the car can be quite economical and also relaxing to drive. Having said that, it's satisfying to drive and can be hustled along at speed and corners and grips with ease and overall the ride is controlled and comfortable. The seats are extremely supportive as well as comfortable and means you can usually travel for long distances with ease. You can often get out and feel like you have only been in the car for a few minutes whereas in fact you have been sat in their for hours. You would assume that the boot would be compromised with the batteries and whilst some space has been utilised to house them, the impact is not as great as you might think. The boot has some 450 litres of very usable space. Moreover, the seat actually fold down making it even more practical. The flipside is that the batteries have used up the space for the spare tyre and instead you are left with an emergency tyre foam and inflator kit which is ok if you have a small puncture but useless if you have anything more serious. If you like your music and sound system then I would also recommend the option of the Mark Levinson upgrade which is a great and is one of the best in the business. Whilst the stereo is great, the achilles heal for the Lexus has to be the infotainment system which is fiddly with its mouse like controller, its also unintuitive and the software look and feels like something from about 10 years ago. This is even more apparent when you compare it to a modern Audi, BMW, Mercedes or even Jaguar for that matter that have far superior systems. Seeing how much we rely on connectivity and the ease of use of such a system these days, it is a shame that Lexus appears to have missed the target here. That said, it's a great car that I have not had any major issues with and one that I would recommend without hesitation.

Lexus IS 300h

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Overall good driving experience, economical in its range with a true mileage of 44mpg. I don't get on with the bucket seats but passengers think it is very comfortable. Let down by the expensive upgrade and unreliable sat nav. Why use Navtech when a very reliable and cheaper upgrade alternative is available like TomTom. I have done 30,000 miles And still using the original tyres and brakes although the back tyres are close to renewing. Don't like the factory fitted tyres I will renew with Goodyear F1 Asymetric.m

I really enjoy my IS300h

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Having been a long standing BMW owner prior to purchasing my car I am delighted with the performance and refinement of my IS. The only downside is that the IS 300h does not have fold down rear seats, but just owning and driving this car is a constant joy. Great car in every other respect.

Very good quiet easy to drive car, good on petrol.

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

It's very easy to drive and very quiet. Very steady in a wind. Good on fuel. About 42mpg around town, I've had 53mpg on a long journey. The cruise control is excellent. Front seats really comfortable. Good stereo system. I haven't had it long. It has a slight lag when you accelerate after which it's really fast.

Stunning looking car. Build quality. (Toyota reliability). Good performance. Quality interior. Comfortable. Quietness. Relaxing to drive. Economy (over 50mpg on recent trip of 50 + miles) not purposefully trying to be economic but obeying the speed limits. Lexus service. Should have changed to Lexus years ago.

LEXUS IS IS SALOON 300h Executive Edition

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Nice car, gets noticed quite a bit, I've had many compliments about the looks and styling of the car and looks good in white. only down side is that the performance doesn't quite match the styling, practically the performance is adequate but sometimes when you want to push it, it feels slow to wind up. kit wise its got almost every thing you could want, the one thing I missed at first compared to my CT200 was the reversing camera, but got used to the graphics in the end so now doesn't really bother me now.

Great motor - buy one, be different

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Gone through a fair number of types of cars from many manufacturers and the IS is the best, overall for me. Last car was a BMW and it was overall a good car but the Lexus is better. Quality, reliability, comfort all brilliant. Dealerships are second to none and in my opinion put the German marks to shame. Friends and family are also impressed and it looks great too. Real life economy is 40mpg so not quite what Lexus claim but all manufacturers are at least 25% out in my experience. I struggle with the fact that journalists often put the IS behind the usual contenders from Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Once you have spent time in an IS you will also wonder....go buy one and be different!

Lexus IS - a different way of doing things

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

The IS is a very nice car, you tend to drive it more relaxed that you would a BMW 3 series. Build quality and reliability is perfect, although some of the plastics are a little hard around the center console. If you've had a previous model you will also notice that Lexus have started to 'de spec' them, I suspect to encourage you to by the top ( expensive ) versions. The boot is a bit small ( will not take two full size cases ) but that is no problem for me, also the fuel consumption is not good ( even with a hybrid ) if you use its performance. But I looks fantastic, is relaxing and there is no way it will ever, ever let you down. I've had four previous IS's - they have all been as good.

First year 32000 miles with an IS300h

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Well thats year 1 of 4 with my latest company car completed and I have to say, after 4 years in a BMW 3 series it was a lot more comfortable/ peaceful 32000 miles. Up to now I am very happy with the dealer service but a little disappointed in the MPG I am getting although most of my driving is on the motorway. (never had anything like 60 mpg more like 45-47) The ride is super smooth and the car is exceptionally quiet compared with the BMW. I do have an issue at the moment with notchy steering at motorway speeds but hopefully a trip to the dealer in the near future will resolve this. Many of the reviews I have read criticise the CVT gearbox but I find it smooth and quiet except when accelerating hard which is not something you do often on our busy roads lets be honest . Overall I think I made a good choice for the next few years. Good on company car tax too

Nice car

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Don't be put off by the CVT gearbox, (remnants of DAFs rubber band). This is a very smooth change, you'll not notice it, doesn't jerk like most automatics. Drives very sedately and quiet in Eco mode. Having said that if you really want to push it in sport mode and use the paddles for changing, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the response, 0 to 60 just shy of 8 seconds its hardly a slouch. Using it in short distances around locally it averages 45 mpg which for a 2.5 ltr petrol engine is not bad, but on longer journeys 50-60ish is easily attainable. £10 road tax compared to my old IS 200 which cost me £380 and an average mpg of around 29/30, savings are very favourable, cheaper to run than my old classic mini. Only gripes are, dashboard controls are difficult to use without taking your eyes off the road, I prefer knobs you can twiddle while eyes stay on main beam, and using screen menus and controls is virtually impossible, leave that to the passenger, and sat nav is not as easy to use as my old Garmin. Otherwise I would have awarded 5 stars. Overall though a very pleasing car, stunning good looks, especially from the front. Excellent economy from a fairly large car. Nice to drive, neighbours impressed. Would recommend if you are thinking of buying.

Lexus IS300h F Sport

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

As you would expect the Lexus Is300h F Sport continues the trend of good quality build, reliablity, and extras as standard that most other manufacturers charge extra for.The ride can be hard at times but it is very quiet in the cabin. The £10 pa Road Tax and the saving in fuel with the hybrid system is a massive incentive to own one of these.

The car is fantastic. It drives like a dream and holds the road even on fast cornering. The comfort is outstanding and the hybrid drive is silent and powerful. The level of service from Lexus is second to none. The whole retake have been fantastic and they are always friendly whenever I take the car in to be cleaned each month. This is a free service they offer and it s very nice to have. Overall I could not be happier with my IS300 hybrid - so good my son has bought the exact same model!

Peace for your commute

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

I have a long commute round the M25 with the mix of congestion and clear patches. The IS300h makes the journey a relatively pleasurable experience. It's silent in Electric mode when going slowly with sufficient oomph for the occasional acceleration. It's comfortable with a great sound system. After a few weeks I became accustomed to the pad which controls satnav, etc. I've owned an Alfa Romeo and BMW in the past. While not as obviously zippy as those cars, this is a great and comfortable drive with all the features of a top of the range European prestige car.

Great Car, quiet, fast, economical and reliable

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

This is my third Lexus after GM took over SAAB and ruined the marque. I have nothing but praise for the dealers, reliability and quality of the cars. The only minor issue I have with this car is the suspension is a bit firmer than the IS250 I had before. The only reason I changed that was I wanted to try a decent sized hybrid, finding a Prius too small. At normal cruising speeds it is very quiet and the sound system is one of the best, listening to classical music becomes really enjoyable being able to hear the quiet passages. Fuel consumption is one of those variable feasts! The manufacturers figures a very optimistic as is usual. In real life I get on average 45 -55 miles per gallon, again contiguous on my driving technique (heavy right foot in sport mode!) Some drivers complain about tyre/road noise and to a certain extent this was true but getting rid of the factory tyres and replacing them with Michelins made quite a difference, the roads here in Oxfordshire being particularly bad! Would I buy another? Definitley. My fortnightly commute up to Yorkshire and back has become much less of a chore. my wife regularly falls asleep whilst I am driving up north and is always surprised how far we've come when she wakes up! Totally dependable, a pleasure to own, after 58 years driving a large variety of makes I wouldn't swap to any other make.

LEXUS IS IS SALOON 300h Executive Edition 4dr CVT Auto

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Very, very comfortable seating and a relaxing Cruiser, very smooth and quiet ride. It's extremely well equipped, and beautifully put together with high quality materials. I considered the obvious competitors, 'but', to bring them up to the same Standard level of equipment, was not good value for Money. This is my first Lexus, and so far, after nearly 10 months of ownership from new, I know I did definitely make the right decision. No problems to date whatsoever, but I have purchased a Spacesaver Spare Wheel - just in Case!!!

Extremely reliable, cheap to run has all the bells and whistles of very much more expensive cars as standard. Build quality is first class and I would say as good as if not better than the germans. My 4th IS saloon

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

Bought as an ex-demo; now just over three years old. Nothing has gone wrong, ever. It is very smooth, comfortable and quiet, as passengers often comment. Feels very safe on tight bends. I regularly get 45/46 mpg (49/50 according to the display) in mixed driving. No, in normal use (i.e., not thrashing it around a track) there is NO "annoying drone" from the gearbox or engine, as other owners users will confirm. Nor is it sluggish. You can have very quick getaway from a standing start, thanks to the hybrid setup, but there may be a slight lag if you try to floor it when pottering along at low revs. If overtaking a slow vehicle in a tight spot, flick it into 'sport' first. Mine is not even close to the top of the range, which is a pity, but it still has lots of kit and the fake leather is very good and very durable. It does have premium Nav. and the associated reversing camera is brilliant. Lexus Leicester are the best dealership I have ever used. Rear wheel drive, so winter tyres are a good idea

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

I have now had this car from new, it's true to say after I purchased the car I had second thought as to wether I had made the right choice. I have now had the car for nine months and it just gets better. Last week a friend picked me up in his BMW 320 D, as you probably know all of the reviews tend to use this as the car to compare it with.......well I'm sorry there is no comparison. My Lexus is almost silent, the BMW D has a very intrusive engine in comparison, the ride is much firmer than the Lexus although it may be slightly more economical by a few mpg. The BMW did have some nice touches like headlights that follow the side of the road and are brighter than the Lexus, the BMW door sounded tinny when closing and lets face it the styling has become boring and like Audi and VW also boring and very very common on our roads, You are probably thinking I am antie BMW....... well I have owned three of them all of them excellent, my particular favourite was a 730i which I kept for 12 years, I always said it was the best car I ever had. Well now thats changed, because the Lexus is the best car I have ever had, the problem will be in the distant future what will I replace it with ?

Great Performance and Economy

LEXUS IS SALOON 2013-onwards

A great performing car for a 4 cylinder. This is down to the torquey hybrid motor that assists the petrol engine. Certainly no slouch. Ride is great, tight and nice feedback from wheel. Also has nice interiror, although divers seat can be quite low which is not good for very tall people, but not uncomfortable. Only gripe i find is the groaning brakes when crawling in traffic where the hybrid system what the car to roll. But thats easy to live with and if the radio is up then you don't hear it. Attracts attention as quite a nice looking car in my opinion. Get the goodies, dont skimp on them.
