Quality motoring at a fraction of the cost

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

Don't be put off by this vehicle, very cheap to buy now, the 2.2 Diesel engine is great over 50mpg, lots of luxury for only a small outlay of money, running costs are low as most parts are Ford, can't recommend this car enough.

Turbo trouble and other bits

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

Well equipped for long journeys and cheap to run. Had trouble with egr valve on the turbo. Not keen on the hard suspension this part of the experience does not feel like a jaguar. The car is very quick and beats most if not all diesels in this bracket I.e. Audi A7 which is a great pleasure to do. Not keen on the switches on the dash feels very old fashioned not even jag like. On the whole go for a 08 to 59 plate 2.2 X Type diesel if you are thinking about buying one with the full sat nav option

Petrol or diesel?

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

Always fancied a silky petrol x type, but thinking logically one of the best things about a jag is the beautiful luxurious cabin. A diesel means you can spend much longer enjoying the driving experience. It has huge acceleration and does 40mpg and 500 miles to a tank. It is quiet powerful and eats up the miles effortlessly. Only issue is the rear seats need to fold down. Just love this car, had to do clutch and flywheel which was £850, but only needs doing every 80000ish

Jaguar X Type 2.0d SE Silver

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

Bought very cheap in April 2016 77,500 miles £1,100 Engine tick over very rough. Had to replace all four injectors at cost of £440 plus VAT. Corrosion on offside sill will need repairing before next MOT. Fuel Economy, 55 MPG on long run, Averaged 38MPG around town. Very clean interior. Polished hazing off headlight lenses units. Good car for age very pleased. Only one lighter / accessory socket which is under flap in front console. Could do with more.

Why buy a small runaround

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

As per title you may buy a small runaround for economy reasons but there is no need to as the type diesel offers the same economy and road tax as an old Rover 45 . Friend has a Fiat 5 years more up to date than my second car and pays more in road tax for an 1100 petrol, less economy on a run and only the same in town traffic and is pig sick that he sacrificed comfort for nothing, Even my XJ350 Sovereign diesel is nearly as economical. Spares are readily available with the only main issue being the headlamp adjusters and clouding the first being easily cured with a £20 kit and the latter can be polished out with Farecia cutting paste. On the subject of headlights they are not the best but an HID conversion makes an immediate improvement albeit that to do the drivers side you need to drop the bumper slightly to remove the light but at least the nearside is accessible by removing the battery box. Had a minor turbo oil leak problem but managed to solve it with a repair kit for sub £20 but would not recommend unless you have a good toolkit, a clean working environment and the ability and confidence to dismantle and re assemble a unit the rotates at 5 figure rpm

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

its a lovely drive with plenty of pulling power with the 130 brake under the bonnet, although you do feel the bumps in the road with the low profile tyres , you need to change the oil probley every 6 to 8 months . people call it a ford in drag but i like the finish thats on the inside jag refinemeant and of course its got the jag bagde . just a shame it dont come with cruise control or folding mirrors but apart from that nice car

Cracking used buy

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

55mpg on a run, and 45mpg in town? While feeling like royalty being wafted about from place to place? Okay, it's not a Rolls Royce, but for this money, you'd be hard pressed to beat an X-Type. I've lost count of the number of times folk have stopped me and said how smart it looks, how they regretted selling one, or how it's their favourite make. The diesel with its timing chain (no belt to worry about) goes round the clock and still runs beautifully. Having bought one, I have no regrets.

2.2d is the one to have

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

Any teething troubles were well sorted out when the diesels came on the scene. Rides beautifully, and enough power in the 2.2. Comfortable, and still turns heads. Timing chain (self adjusting) instead of belt is a plus. Check sills for corrosion (under plastic covers). Reliable and inexpensive to own.

drives great comfy economical

JAGUAR X-TYPE DIESEL SALOON 2003-2007

This is an old car 2004 it runs great very good on fuel. driven at 50 60 mph I got 65 mpg its diesel and tomorrow for the first time in ots 135,000 miles I am having it de carbonised its so comfy on long drives all the extras are good like a great speaker system and player both radio and cd player. a little heavy on tyres but then Michelin I would not recommend for this heavy car ive done 15,000 miles with a full set of brand new tyres and they are close to need changing.. I'm not a fast driver (70) years old so there you are a lovely stylish car and I would have another !!!
