Solid car

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

I've only had this car three months and although it's had its problems, it's a great car, it's different. When I picked it up from the dealers I only got about four miles and it went into limp home mode due to egr valve fault. Got the car back to dealers and they fixed it within 24 hours which was great service. Then three weeks later a seal in the clutch went, had to get it recovered, but yet again dealer had it back to me within a day. Even though I had these problems with it, I still really like this car. It's fully equipped for an se model and seats are really comfy, it's different like I say. I know this car doesn't get great write ups from the industry and owners alike but I think that it's worth trying one out, even just test drive one and see what you think.

I enjoy driving this car as it is easy to handle and is as safe as house when in full flow. It has all the wee gadgets and home comforts.

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

Great car to drive and very reliable however the mpg is only good on the motorways where you can achieve upto 50mpg with very careful driving and keeping to 70mph the moment on average a motorway with mixed speeds between 60-80 you can achieve 40-45, but once your on town/city roads it can creep down to 35.

My black Lexus

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

Great car, very good comfortable ride. Gearing takes a bit of getting used to. (Need to be in low gear at give ways). I have recommended this car to a friend, and she is also very pleased with hers. It has never let me down in 4 years.

Lovely to drive, a pleasure to own

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

This car has a full main dealer service history through Listers Lexus (Worcester, Cheltenham and Coventry). Up to at least June 2016, owned within same family (sold by father to son in June 2014). Smooth driving experience, genuine mileage, latterly averaging up to 25,000 motorway miles per year. Typically Lexus, the car is full of good features. However, there are well publicised problems with the IS220d model which, although true to a certain extent of this car, does not detract from it's driveability; one of which would be that yes, sixth gear is only practical at speeds over 75 mph and going downhill! One of the major faults which apply to this car has already happened - EGR valve and DPF exhaust problems were rectified in October 2015, though this was after a period of time where mileage per year was pretty low and many journeys were short, round-town trips of less than five miles. Otherwise, this car would be a very sound and reliable purchase (as at April 2016) should it ever be available to purchase - which is a very unlikely fact at the moment.

Gearstick is like a broom stick in a box of coconuts

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

Bought this car back in 2007 and even though at first I enjoyed the car, the car had many issues and kept going back in for warranty work. I had the EGR valve changed numerous times, leak on the engine with involved dropping the engine down to replace seal, new steering rack, new turbo, rattles, new wheels as they corroded. Maybe a few other small items. Luckily all on warranty. Lexus Poole were good at doing warranty work as with any Lexus, Their warranties are top notch. The problem us the IS Diesel was rubbish and the petrol automatic is the peach of them all. Gearbox in the diesel was like poking a broom stick in a box of coconuts! Terrible. But the rest of the car was actually quite nice and well built. Just stay away from the Diesel model. Lexus Owners Club has all the horror stories, go and take a look.

EGR valve

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

Top end luxury and drive. Keyless enter reversing camera, top end sound system. Eats motorway driving with little to no use of the sixth gear - It's not needed in the UK. The only issue was going into limp mode and that was scary with zero acceleration when this kicked in. This was all down to a clogged EGR - exhaust gas recycle valve. After changing my driving habits and not jumping into the car to the local shop it hasn't occurred since.

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

do not buy the lexus diesel, it has far too many problems, DPF, Head Gasket Failure, ERG getting blocked, Injector Failures ( £600 a piece just to buy). Poor fuel economy, read the forums it is littered with problems from the diesel lexus, that is why they stopped making them after 5 years.

Lexus IS220D

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

This is a wonderful car, drives lovely and has the refinements you would expect from Lexus. The build quality is good and solid and the little extra they put into having toys to play around with! Only down side is the fuel economy is not the best, if you keep the revs down to around 2000 then your fuel bill will not be so large but saying that it also has the power when needed. 6th gear does not get used much unless your doing 80 on the motorway otherwise it lags

Well what can I say about it? It's reliable, not great on fuel around town but on the motorway it's pretty good! Sold build quality and some nice little touches to it too. Also has the power when you need it but doesn't like 6th gear unless your doing at least 80!

best car I've had

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

I have had many cars and this is by far the best I have had, yes I had one issue with the dpf but other than that an outstanding car. Wouldn't recommend if you wanted a big boot or lots of leg room in the rear though, but out of this car or the bmw 3 series the Lexus would be my choice.

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

I've had my Lexus IS220d f sport for just over a year and it's a good car it is really comfortable and economical getting 50mpg all the time. I bought it from Lexus Cheltenham. It's a good drivers car and I arrive as fresh as I do to when I started the journey. However she is off the road at the moment with go fuel rail issues as the car misfires or shuts down misdiagnosed by replacing the egr valve first completely after a long or motorway speed drive. It's a shame as the car is really nice and gets a lot of looks. At the moment she's in my local Lexus garage in Bristol to be sorted and to say the least trying to find out if the car is being worked on or faults cured is a painful process. Twice I asked for call back and the garage never called back for update. So much for first class customer experience

the model to avoid

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

purchased for £5000 from a private garage 15months ago now they are selling for about £3500 purchased with full Lexus service history and only 85000 miles on purchase and now done 98000 and have now been told by a Lexus dealer that the head gasket has gone and they don't repair them - basically they knew they had problems with this model but have let idiots like me pay the price utterly disgusting would recommend avoid this model at all costs other faults are cracking noise from dash (sounds like window cracking) and problems with egr thought I was buying quality turns out to be s***

The Car to Avoid

LEXUS IS DIESEL SALOON 2006-2011

This model is a disaster with many known defects that Lexus are aware of . I have had most of the problems raised in my 18 months of ownership even though when purchased the car had full Lexus service history with 82,000 miles on the clock Faults have included the cracking noise from the dash , egr valve problems, hesitancy with acceleration, Airbag recall and finally the dreaded head gasket (warped Block) Even though I paid over £5000 from a local garage when purchased Lexus informed me that the gasket wasn't a viable repair and it would be better to scrap. I am having it repaired elsewhere and will be stuck with it. Definitely a car to avoid
