Good family car

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

Superb motorway driving with comfort and effortless cruising reasonable fuel economy for a large car of this age. Not the easiest to manoeuvre in tight parking spots due to limited visibility front and rear (parking sensors required) owned for 2 years and no reliability issues. Huge luggage compartment and ideal towing car.great for families. The only complaint that I have is that the hatchback is quite heavy, though whether this is a fault with all models or just an issue with my particular car I don't know.

My MK4 Mondeo Experience

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

This is a fantastic car, and well worth the investment. I bought the car with 110k on the clock at 7 years old, in March 2014. The car is solid, I have had no "major" running costs in this time, other than serviceable items. Currently the car is at 138k miles and it doesn't feel like it. Prior to my purchase, the car looks to have been a lease car, and seems to have been driven like one! having the clutch and DMF replaced at 60k miles. Beyond that, in the time I have owned it, and having put another 28k+ on the clock, my personal major expenses have been the following: Battery - £60 Timing Belt Service - £640 Full disk and pad service - £170 Fuel filter, and thermostat housing and seal replacement and coolant - £135 Expenses covered under warranty and the cost was unknown (but guesstimated below) Fault with rear nearside airbag connection - say £200 for diagnostics and labour Leaking air con compressor and re-gas (done twice as first replacement was faulty) - £ £300 Beyond that I have had to do some remedial work: Air Con re-gas (prior to the fault with the compressor) - £30 Bulb replacement - £20 New leak off pipe assembly and labour to fit - £70 New Air Filter - £10 New aerial base and antenna - £20 (the other rusted together and could not be separated!) Glow Plug Replacement - £38 Replacement Earthing Bolt - £8 Second (flip) Key - £54 Used key (to replace a faulty button on the old one!) - £10 Other than the above expenses, I have bought the usual perishable goods, such as wiper blades and tyres, alignment etc. Forthcoming repairs which are needed include: New wheel bearing (will go for all four) New oil sump pan and associated parts rear trailing arm bushes (both sides) Brake pads Brake fluid Maximum cost, £1300 for all parts and labour. Overall, in just over two years, I have spent around £450 on "unexpected" expenses, though these are really just day to day running costs, owning a higher mileage car. Consumables on top of that of course, are separate. Overall, this car is fantastic. The engine is bulletproof, gearbox, and clutch / DMF (as I have driven it sensibly) are up to 70k and feels like there is a lot more left to it. Having paid £100 for a Terraclean service around a year ago, the car felt it had new life. day to day, I can get a fantastic return on fuel. If I drive the car like a race car everywhere, I still get 33MPG on average, and that is with an exceptionally heavy foot, "racing starts", and more high rev driving than a day at silverstone, mixed in with a fair amount of town driving, along with some motorways. In contrast, driving the car sensibly, and primarily on motorways, I can still average up to 780 miles out of a tank (54MPG) and that is with a permanently loaded boot, with full size spare wheel, trolley jack, buggy and some tool boxes. The best achievement I have made though, was on an empty car, and sensible driving, I got 925 miles out the tank, and still had a good 7 litres left! not bad! To be honest, I probably have spent more money tweaking my car with little things, than I have spent on unexpected repairs, and I don't tend to spend a great deal. Just, don't tell the wife... The only niggles I have with the car, though it is of course a high miler: Rattles: the car has a fair few rattles, nothing major, one I resolved with a penny, the others I am still tracking down, but even then, on a motorway and with the radio on, I can't hear it. Battery light: every now and then, the battery light pops on. There isn't a fault, as the battery is sufficiently charged, and the alternator is putting out the right amount, it barely ever happens, but when it does, it goes out within about 8 seconds of the car starting. Overall, its a brilliant car, I love having it and refuse to part with it. Its reliable, economical, sufficiently sized for a mid sized family. With a big enough boot it can easily do the shopping and still carry my day to day bits, though having a pushchair in the back of the car, does reduce the space a little! handling is fantastic, a little wayward at present due to the slow demise of the rear bushes, but before they started to go out, it stuck like something smelly on a shovel, around every corner, at whatever speed I choose. With the good comes the bad, though most of it can be very easily resolved. Turbo lag, can be a bit annoying, its not exceptional to be honest, but it is noticeable. I blanked the EGR valve off, and immediately noticed more response and less lag. The cost - an exceptional bank busting £5! Beyond that, I am sure if I get a tuning box or remap for the car, that will give it even more response, its probably would be ready to go anytime the engines running. Poor boot lid design. All the water pools on the rear bootlid, and at the bottom of the glass. When you open the boot, it pours down, and splashes all on the inside of the car, barely any of it gets in the channels. This can lead to airbag corrosion, and further faults, requiring potentially expert assistance and the cost that goes with it. It can be minimized significantly, by opening the boot a small amount, and allow most of the water to drop straight into the channel, then slowly open the boot the rest of the way... Its no real hardship. There is a recognised fix for this, Ford sell "channeling" that sticks to the side of the bootlid and helps to divert the rain into the gullies. Though not fool-proof, the general consensus is that it makes a substantial difference. Thats about it really, if I had to sum this car up? - "till death do us part"

New Mondeo Purchase

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

I had been looking for this particular spec Mondeo for a number of weeks and this came up at a local garage with a good reputation about 2 months ago. It is the 2.2l model and I would probably have preferred the 2.ol but it is in wonderful condition and had done less than 30k and they did a good deal with my Passat in part ex. It is a lovely comfortable cruiser with an extra bit of umph when you need it. All the bells and whistles make it a great driving experience and I'm getting around 40mpg. I have had Passats for over 5 years but changed to Ford because of the expense of spares etc. So far, no regrets.

Ford Mondeo 1.8 TDCI

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

Bought this car used and in the two years that I have owned it there has been no problems, maintenance costs have been two tyres and annual service. Brilliant for motorway driving with adequate power to cope with long journeys. Excellent passenger comfort with plenty of leg room . Huge luggage area making it ideal for families or has a company vehicle.

Very very happy

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

My car is a 2010 Mondeo 163hp version. I bought it with 82,000 on the clock and I do roughly 25,000 a year. Easily the best car I’ve owned. Smooth, quiet and fast. Only had one problem. Starting the car became a problem and even then, once going was lumpy. This got progressively worse during winter and I even had to turn to the AA. Got a new battery but still had the problem. I bought some diesel Redex with my next tank, three days later problem solved. Car starts first time and now running as smooth and fast as ever and mpg is back over 50. It's very roomy and the boot is vast. Voice control, climate control, all work perfectly. Just a very nice car.

Great car

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

I've had this car for about 18 months now, and it's the best car I've had the pleasure of driving. I've upgraded my stereo to a Eonon and added reversing camera myself. Running costs are very cheap - does a good 40-50mpg depending on how I'm driving / traffic. Services tend to cost about £100 for a full one, so it's very cheap. Tyres are also popular so they are about 40-50 each. All in all, a great car.

Better than the old better than the new.

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

It is the best car I have ever owned, low cost economically, reliable, excellent handling, although it is extremely comfortable to drive the 18' low profile tyres let it down a little so try get the 17' alloy with the larger tyre.

FORD MONDEO MK4 2,0LTR DIESEL 130 BHP 57 REG ZETEC

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

THIS MY SECOND MONDEO ,THE FIRST BEING THE MK3 20LTR 130 ZETEC,BOTH OF THESE CARS HAVE WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST TWO CARS I HAVE OWNED OUT OF MANY SCANNING 45 YEARS OF DRIVING. THE MK FOUR IS AS GOOD TO DRIVE AS IT LOOKS,IT'S SLEEK BODYWORK PUTS IT UP THERE WITH THE SO CALLED BEST,AND IN THE PASSED HAVE BEEN KNOCKED BY THESE MOTORING MAGS AND TV PROGRAMS,THE THING IS THAT THESE ARE FAMILY CARS ,IT MAKES PULLING MY CARVAN A VERY PLEASANT JOB,IT TRAVELLS ROUND THE LOCAL TOWNS AND SHOWS 38/40 TO THE GALLON,ON THE MOTOR WAY IT CRUISES AT 70 PLUS AND IT ALL HAPPENS IN A WARM ,COSY COMFORTABLE COCKPIT,THE WHOLE FAMILY WHENEVER THEY GET IN COMMENT ON HOW WELL THE INSIDE IS LAID OUT,AND HOW SMOOTH;IT ALL HAPPENS,LIKE EVERY CAR ON THIS PLANNET THERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS THAT COULD BE BETTER(THE DESIGN OF THE BOOT HATCH WHEN IT IS OR HAS RAINED WHEN THE BOOT IS LIFTED THE WATER RUNS OFF THE LID AND INTO THE BOOT FLOOR OR WHATEVER YOU HAVE IN THERE,THERE IS AT TIMES WHEN I HAVE GONE FOR REVERSE AND IT'S TOOK A WHILE TO GET THERE,BUT HAPPENS WITH DIESELS OF ALL KINDS,THE MK3 DID THE SAME BUT THAT WOULD NOT PUT ME OFF BUYING ONE OF THESE MOTORS,THE BOOT WATER IS A BIGGER MENACE,YES THESE CARS IN MY MIND ARE A GREAT BUY AND WHEN THE TIME COMES WHEN I CAN GO OUT AND BUY A MK5 I WILL DO THAT KNOWING THAT I WILL BE BUYING ONE OF BRITAINS BEST SELLING NAMES IN THE CAR INDUSTRY,THEY ARE NOT THE FASTEST CAR ON THE ROAD.CERTAINLY NOT THE DEAREST,IT DOES'NT DO O-60 IN SUCH A TIME THAT IT PULLS YOUR UNDERPANTS OVER YOUR HEAD,BUT WHAT IT DOES DO IS GIVE YOU A VERY RELIABLE COMFORTABLE,GREAT ON FUEL (60)PLUS ON A MOTORWAY AT A STEADY 60MPH(THATS TOWING AS WELL)WEATHER PERMITTING MOTOR CAR.DON,T BE PUT OFF BUY OTHER PEOPLE,BUY ONE,DRIVE IT,AND THEN FIND OUT FOR YOUR SELF HOW GOOD IT IS,AND THEN YOU WILL KNOW,WHY I GAVE THIS MOTOR A GREAT WRITE UP BECAUSE A GREAT CAR DESERVES ONE,HOPE THIS HAS SCRUBBED ANY THOUGHTS WHY NOT TO BUY ONE,AND GIVE YOU A DOZEN REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD. (ENJOY)

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

I have a ford mondeo 2.0 tdci zetec, to start with the outside is a nice shape rear lights look awsome at night but the front headlights dont look that good the wing mirrors i feel are a little small for the car but i think thats just me, thats the only negitive about it, the interior is VERY spacious its like being in your old worn in chair that you know is worn in to you and comfy, you are huddled in a bubble, some dont like this set up but i like it eveything is at your fingertips, the rear seats are really spacious with the added arm rest if you dont have a 5th person in you car and also a, 12v charger in the back, the boot is massive able to fit a good few cases in the back for a good long weekend away with the family, the take off in a manual is very smooth and picks up speed very quicky and on motoway driving is fantastic with the added cruse control is wonderful no wedging your foot to keep the power on and a dead foot at the end of a long journey, the fuel economy in the 2.0L diesel is pretty good esp on motoways which i do a lot off, i would highly recommed this car to a family or friend if you have a family or not yes they are perfect for long journey or just a quick pop to the shop.

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

I've been through the range of Mondeos in my life, and Granadas Also before them.and always found them a joy to drive.if things went wrong I'd whip out my manual and fix the problem my self .i suppose I'm am bias as regards to fords.but if anyone was thinking of buying a new car or second hand as was my case, and wanted the larger car I would definitely recommend the Mondeo you can't go wrong.

MONDEO MK4

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

I love my Mondeo. It's cheap to run and economical. A great cruiser on long journeys. Loads of power when needed. Lovely gear change. Lots of toys. Tons of room inside for passengers and luggage. Modern looks. Lots of car for the money. If you buy one, make sure it either has parking sensors or fit some. The sheer size of the car is difficult to park sometimes. Throw the original stereo away and get an Eonon one with sat nav, screen and loads of android apps to use. Owned mine for a year and no faults as of yet. Passed MOT first time.

Great Car!

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

Brill car!!! Had it for over 3 years now and hoping it will last another few. I love its size. I know I can transport a lot in this huge boot. I have moved a house with it. It did fit a fridge, washing machine and even a small waredrobe!!! It is a big car but when you drive it you don't really feel it. Plenty of space inside gives you a really comfy journey. Has an isofix which is a plus. You can fit a big car seat at the back without stealing passanger's or driver's space.

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2007-2010

Ford Mondeo MKIV is a family car. There is a lot of space for the spindle as well as the back. The rear seat and seats are very comfortable. A lot of space in the trunk which is very important for me with a small child, is where to pack a stroller and shopping at the same time. The cost of maintaining the car is small. In addition to the standard service, there are no major repairs. Small combustion on the route. RECOMMEND

I am really happy with my car! I have been driving it for over 3 years now and I must say that I don't even have a thing to complain about. It runs and drives smoothly, no mechanical and electrical issues whatsoever. The only parts I have repaired (exchanged) so far are the once that getting used like brakes, tyres, timing belt etc. Really reliable vehicle! Never lets me down. Fantastic car in overall !! I would definitely buy the new version of it in the future. I truly recommend it.

It is Great car. Mondeo mk4 is very comfortable, capacious and the IVDC system runs mondeo very pleasant. ACC gives you very safe driving. Feelings are comparable to business class. Bad points IVDC suspension very expensive to repair. Major faults are damage to the tailgate lock, the windshield unsticking through which water gets into the interior.
