a very good car

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

It feels and drives like something much bigger every time i drive it i feel comfortable on any type of journey this car has been mega reliable for me and its by far the best car I've owned it has smart looks it fits in very well with any new cars on the road my only downside is the tax i pay £265 ouch but it is cheap to insure even though its a 2.0 it is very fuel efficient too (but thats probably my driving LOL) I've had NO major or minor faults with this car its lovely

Best of both!!

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

Not only is the Focus a nice, sensible small family car - it's also a joy to drive. The handling is superb, great feedback through the bends, controllable & predictable. The 1.8 petrol engine isn't the most economical in the world - nor the fastest. I can usually get around 300 miles to a tank driving around town (from full to range counter showing 0 is about 45l of fuel). On a recent run, I managed to eek out 400 miles from a full tank!! Not going to lie, I have had as little as 240 miles out of a tank...but that says more about me than the car... For a small family car, it is quite practical. The boot is a reasonable size and the back seats do drop down flat. The estate version is obviously even better in this respect (with very little loss of what makes it a great car). Rear legroom is acceptable for most - unless you have a tall driver (like me) - in which case a tall passenger may well struggle behind the driver. The seats themselves are very comfortable - semi-bucket seats up front offer just enough support for some real driving and are lovely for long drives. In car entertainment as standard: CD Player and radio. The sound quality is acceptable for a standard, non-luxury package and is easily modifiable. The not-so-good bits: There is a lot of wind noise, which appears to emanate from the door mirror surrounds. But the radio makes up for that! Some of the plastic trim does feel a little...weak, but it has held up to regular abuse by me & 2 young kids. Not to mention the family pet - or my sister as others call her... Off the line, it can feel a little sluggish - but that appears to be down to poor quality spark plugs (NGK don't last all that well - they erode very quickly despite a good fuel/air mix. Faults wise - I did have an accident which makes it a little difficult to judge...but I have had new shocks & springs all round, strut tops replaced up front and new brake pads also up front. Nothing major has failed, only general wear-and-tear items. TL;DR... Awesome car, handles well despite being a bit sluggish. Practical and reliable - only the usual wear and tear items have been changed.

Fun and practical

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

I owned my silver facelift Focus ST3 for around 2 years, and during this time it proved to be a fantastic car. Performance is clearly why most people will choose this particular model, and the 5 cylinder 2.5 turbo unit in this car pulls like a train through the whole rev range. These cars really are quick, and you will be able to overtake very easily in any gear. The engine has backs of character too, with a wonderful off beat "warble" under acceleration. It sounds even better with a sports exhaust too, with characterful pops and bangs on gear changes and throttle lift off. The first time you drive one of these, you'll soon realise it's no ordinary Focus. I also had mine remapped using a bluefin device from Superchips. This made it really quick but you have to be careful of remaps wearing out the clutch, if this happens you need an RS clutch at around £1000 fitted. Also, it's clearly possible to put a lot of wear on the front tyres, being a powerful front wheel drive car, and you will have fun deploying the power in a low gear when it's even a little damp. The ride and handling are good too. If I had to criticise it slightly, you can always feel that heavy engine at the front, though in my opinion the engine is worth it for the character. The ride quality is good, not too hard and the car is well suited to motorway cruising, though it could definitely do with cruise control for this. The seats are fantastic - very comfortable and yet supportive, plus heated if you get the leather ones in the ST3. Fuel economy is not that brilliant as you might expect, and I averaged around 22-24mpg around town (less with a heavy right foot) and around 30-32 mpg on a run, never more. It's not really a car you buy for fuel economy though. The car was also fantastically reliable through my ownership experience, with the car requiring nothing apart from normal wear and tear items plus servicing during the time I had it. The only thing I can think of was that there were a couple of rust spots (inside the boot above the opening where the washer pipe is and either side of the rear bumper where it meets the arches) that were sorted free of charge under Ford's warranty for bodywork. I'd definitely buy one of these again, or the RS/newer model, should I be in the position to own one again.

2010 Zetec S 1.8 petrol

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

Brilliant car all round, only thing letting it down is the fuel consumption, would have had a diesel but my mileage don't warrant it, I'm getting high 20s to low 30s with mainly urban driving apart from that it's a beautiful car in every way

Focus ST

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

Nice car to drive with good performance, sounds nice and loads of modifications out there for it if you was to do any. Running costs aren't brilliant but you expect that with this car. Easy get 4 adults in but if had a spare wheel, they boot floor is raised losing a bit of room. Overall really happy with it.

Focus ST-3 is a Gear car

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

I do not own the Focus ST any longer due to purchasing another car but still wanted to share my opinion on the car. I had a 2007 and the 2010 model Focus ST-3 (separately) and in all honesty, I do miss them. I preferred the 2010 model due to being (at the time) more modern and the the more subtle look, more rounded curves and you basically knew it was an "ST". Standard silver 18-inch alloys actually suited the car. The auto-levelling bi-xenon headlights were a great feature too. The 3-door hatchback was a great car. Very spacious, strong car and had lots of power and torque. The 2.5 litre Volvo turbocharged engine was amazing and sounded great. Any gear pulled well and no hesitation at all. The interior was amazing too with the ST-3 package, leather Recaro seats, Carbon look surround mixed with the dark grey dashboard. Both models did not have any Navigation system but the 2010 model did have the AUTO Climate Control which I cannot fault. Had Bluetooth, Voice Activation, USB Ports and a Chilled Glovebox. The 2010 model I did upgrade with a sports panel Air Filter, bigger Intercooler, CAT-back exhaust system and the ECU was remapped. A popular car for modification although I modified the car basically to assist with better cooling for the car rather than putting my foot down. The only downside, looking back was the fuel economy. I cannot remember any MPG figures but regular trips from Essex to West Midlands was about 1/2 tank around the 70-75mph marker and there was no cruise control. I would easily have another one? Still the 2010 model as opposed to the newer shape as Ford have ruined things now the ST only is available in a 5-door model.

Modified ST-2

FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK 2008-2011

Well, I havent owned this car for very long but I have already learnt a few good and bad points of it. I love the way it drives and the fact it is a 5 door is just a bonus. Surprisingly the boot is a decent size and there is plenty of leg room in the back for passengers. The seats are very comfortable with the cloth Recaro's and the driving position is spot on. The only thing I would complain about is that the pedals are a little close together, meaning if you have big work boots on, you can easily catch the brake when clutching. Other things are that mine has 25mm lowered springs, which can be a little bouncy over speedbumps. Reliability wise, I have had a coolant pipe burst and exhaust split. Both very minor jobs and something I would expect of a 10 year old car. Only major downside is the fuel. Mind has been modified to stage 2 and currently does 25mpg if I am careful around town, and maybe reach 35mpg on the motorway. I also have to fill up using the expensive stuff as a result of the map meaning it hits my pocket hard being a daily driver.

Generaly this is not too bad car, only problem for me the car isn't speed, mean too slowly. Seat ale confortable for long drive, i like my car and i can give recomendation. I have my focus 8 years and i didn't repair a lot, only last month i've changed Front coil springs , so this is strong car.
