A Quantum Leap in both Quality and Performance

Good, documented service history is a must; not neccessarily from VW/Audi as I have used a very good independent specialist in North Lincs for years and he has always done the business for me. I would however, before anything else, go as far as plugging the car into a diagnostic laptop to check for any previous issue codes. If there are none and the sevice book is up to date, go with your instincts and take a risk, you'll not look back. There are faster, better looking and sharper handling (you'll be spending a load more cash I must add) cars but none come close to the TT TDI to live with as an everyday multi-purpose wagon! I do the London-North Lincs run on a weekly basis and return a min of 53 MPG with enthusiastic driving and I even had it averaging 59 recently when sat at 65 MPH. On the downside, it's a tad tight on the inside as well as being pretty broad on the outside so garage parking takes some getting used to; hard ride on bumpy roads can give some back and butt ache if driven hard. Check that your proposed purchase has bluetooth as mine didn't, I should have checked, silly me I have to still use a ear piece and mike. I never realised that the TT had a relatively generous load area with rear seats down (I really didn't know they could be dropped before I bought it) is fab considering its size; I just managed to get in a slim-line dishwasher with space to close the hatch. Ensure the wheel alignment is spot on as if not, you will go through tyres like no ones business and at around £120 per corner, it will add up over time. Check this before purchasing as well as the cam/timing belt change, which from experience, I recommend changing at around 60K in miles. I have owned everything from old 100 Coupe through to an A2-A3 TDI S-Line to a 100 2.5 TDI estate but this TT TDI easily is the best I have had, fun to drive and ease of ownership and really cannot look back!
