Mondeo 1.5 Diesel Titanium X

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

First impressions - car looks great, seats are very comfortable (nearly as good as the Volvo I had previously) with lots of adjustment, masses of interior space and rear legroom even with front seats quite far back. Smooth and quiet, slick gearbox. My car is fully loaded but would say the must have options if you need to choose are adaptive cruise control for stress free motorway miles, and definitely upgrade to the Sony audio system which sounds amazing. Touchscreen gathers fingerprints very easily which is irritating, and the Sync 2 interface is a little dated now (it's just been updated I believe on new models) - but it is more responsive than some negative reviews suggest. LED headlamps are also excellent. Build quality is generally good but some irritating knocks and rattles already from Driver's door pillar which need to be checked out. Beware size of car - wide and long (and quite low) so take care in cramped car parks and watch out for raised kerbs. Privacy glass looks good but limits rear visibility especially with narrow view through steeply raked tailgate and lots of rear blind spots when reversing- parking sensors are also a must. 1.5 engine lacks a little power on the motorway for quick overtaking moves but still has plenty of grunt for city driving and moves off relatively quickly from the lights for a small Diesel engine. MPG is not quite what's stated by the manufacturer yet, but hope it will improve. All in all, great packaging and much better value than German equivalents for the level of technology included - no regrets!

Mk5 mondeo problems

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Had lots of niggles with this car akthough it runs well and gives good economy. Early on it started with a fluttering noise when doing motorway speeds, after fruitless visit to Ford garage finally found it go be the under floor covers loose on their fixings which were very poor. Fixed these with some pegs made on a lathe to expand the fitting plugs, ok now. Gone into limp mode twice and shown a brake fault on dash, fixed with an upgrade to ecu. Indicator sounder stopped sounding several times and have now been advised there is a fix coming fir this in October 2016 but not holding my breath! Another anoying problem is the phone section of the touch screen not going to that screen, instead it freezes on home page and will only move off it by first selecting home page and then trying phone section again. This fault has been 'fixed' four times now and keeps returning after a few weeks! The dealer seems at a loss? Am I the only one with these faults?

Its a bit shit

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Boot does not close properly. No power in engine, and seems gutless. SYNC 3 infotainment system is awful. Parking assist does not work reliably to have any confidence that is will not cause an accident. On a positive note, its a lease vehicle and those 100,000 miles really cannot come soon enough.

Its a bit shit

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Where do i begin... Boot does not close properly. No power in engine, and seems gutless. SYNC 3 infotainment system is awful, and loses Bluetooth connectivity routinely on two different handsets (iOS and Android). Paid extra for Parking Assist, which simply does not work reliably enough to have any confidence in, so heavens know if the City Stop functionality that i pad extra for would work either. On a positive note, its a nice colour.

Beautiful Curate's egg.

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Good economy 53mpg in mixed driving Some annoying design choices- e.g. Satnav defaults to numbers first when entering a postcode. You just need to select abc to change, but what uk postcode starts with numbers? Think this is just a 'global car' issue that Ford hasn't made it 'uk' enough. Equally the map shows roads in only two colours - orange and grey! (Sync2). Drivers seat has a function that winds the seat 50mm backwards when you open the door (!). I wonder what market that was necessary for. The US I suspect! Function can be switched off. Mk4 would play MP3. Files from USB stick. This also plays these but plays them in TRACK NAME ALPHABETICAL ORDER!! Not track number order! Nuts! Who thought that was a good idea at the design stage? Annoying reflection of all fingerprints on screen. Car is surprisingly low and frequently grounds on rough car parks. New starter at 50k, new dual mass flywheel at 35k (light acceleration and no towing), new alarm module at about 40k, new reversing camera at 30k. Seems ok currently, nearly 3 years old and 70k. Sold my mk4 at 160k without any problems- I was just aware that something expensive could be about to happen. Wish I'd kept it longer now. Overall, a good car and more refined than the mk4 but not the leap forward that the mk4 was.

Multifunction car

FORD MONDEO DIESEL HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I'm the owner of mondeo for last few months. Main think was I was looking for spacious car but not a van. If you looking for something with big boot THAT IS YOUR BEST CHOICE! First good thing about it it's liftback version not saloon like vignale. That's mean when you open boot all window goes up giving you planty space and easy access. Powershift gearbox works very smooth and fast. You can't say when car change gears. Mine got 16" original wheels and tyres (michelins) that gives you smooth and quite drive even doing 120mph on motorway. Fuel consumption is avarange, in town it's about 30-35mpg and motorway up to 60mpg. Comfy seats, easy voice control system (managing: calls, radio, temperature). Because it's big car turn angle it's not great. I often say that wagons got better than that. You need really lot of room to turn. Also is hard to park because it's long. Even reversing is hardbecause you can't see what's on the back and that version don't have a parking sensors as standard. Other thing is access to front bulbs. To do it you need to take front bumper out wich first time took me an hour. For cb users like me bad point is that boot like bumpers and door panels are plastic so only option is roof. I choose that version instead higher spec because I trust quality of zetec engine. Not really a fan of ecoboosts. Other think is service plans, expensive. Powershift need regular service 3years or 36k miles and ignoring it may cost a lot. Ford plans are not cheap also. I'm using mondeo daily going to work and for puling caravans. It's great family car with lot of space and features.
