Yaris 1.3 Excel

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I find the clutch and brake pedal travel to be a bit strange compared to other makes of car I've owned but you get used to it and having driven the earlier makes of the Yaris have found them all to be about the same. I had a 2014 Yaris Icon plus 1 litre before this car and found the MPG much better on short journeys than this 1.3. A spare wheel as standard would be nice rather than having to pay for the option of a spare wheel kit to replace the emergency inflation kit which just about everyone dosen't like. Overall a very nice car in the Excel spec though a little on the expensive side.

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

It is as I expected as I have had two toyota hybrids previously first a Prius then an auris and now the yaris all easy to drive- economical yaris presently doing 50-55 mpg previous owner had a best of 65mpg I havn't attained that figure yet as I like to go faster than 30-40!! I don't expect any problems as Toyota hybrids are very reliable when I had the Prius it was Toyota's most reliable vehicle of all the cars they made.

Very happy with the car, but the MPG is very disappointing when compared to the publicised figures

Disappointed!

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Main disappointment, compared to previous Yaris's is the considerably reduced turning circle (I'm a driving instructor!), along with dropping the Smart entry, despite having push button start. I miss the automatic wipers. Unhappy with the reduced floor space in rear, behind handbrake unit, and also the lack of storage places (particularly the very small glove-box). I do like the engine performance and particularly the automatic gearbox (seamless gear changes). Not really happy without a spare wheel, even a space-saver. Still early to assess fuel consumption of the hybrid engine, but seems a slight improvement on my previous model (1.33 TSpirit). Why did Toyota do away with the central console, including digital speedo' on the Yaris ( with the increased storage areas). Turning Circle....uuurrgh!!

Good small car

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Toyota Yaris Hybrid is a good small car suitable for commuting. It's quite economical, swift and agile, very good for town as well as motorway. It drives well, with no nasty surprises. Build quality is decent, though some parts, like dashboard and vents feel plasticy. Cost efficient and green car worth buying.

Toyota reliable

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

A very well built car, ultra reliable, drives well, starts first time every time, my only downside is the lack of a spare wheel (just the same as most new cars these days) a wee trip to eBay sorted that concern though, but all things considered the Yaris is a great little car.

Owning a Yaris Hybrid

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I am very pleased with this version of the Yaris. The design is much more up to date than the last model that I owned. The interior is of a higher quality and more european design. The car has been very reliable with no issues. The only thing I would prefer would be a proper automatic gear box rather than the CVT which tends to whine.

Yaris Hybrid 2015

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Toyota reliability, not suitable for very long journeys , Quite noisy when accelerated hard, Good MPG but not as good as Toyota advertise. rear seat operation much better on the older Yaris models . Nice to drive since it is an automatic. Toyota dealers very good , I would buy again without hesitation

Yaris Hybrid

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I would recommend the Yaris, good to drive and very responsive but do not believe the fuel claims for the Hybrid as even with careful use of acceleration etc. 53-55 mpg is the best it can achieve, that said the automatic is good but replacement will be standard Yaris with CVT. I would not recommend the Hybrid version but would recommend the Yaris.

Yaris Hybrid

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

A great car, but to get the best out of it you have to change the way you drive. The second thing would be not to buy it from the Toyota dealer I bought my last three Toyota Yaris from. (Cheltenham).

Downgrade

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

Very good engine/gearbox - smooth. Very poor turning circle compared to previous Yaris's - Being a driving instructor (disappointing!) Internal storage surprisingly poor - Why remove the pocket behind the drivers seat? I miss the keyless entry - still have the remote to lock/unlock but not needed to start car! I think this model should still have automatic lights and, maybe, wipers but at least variable speed wipers. Self-closing mirrors and passenger seat height adjustment and spare/spacesaver wheel sadly missed. Altogether generally disappointed apart from the excellent handling and punchy engine. (Not related to the car but considerable difficulty with registering with MyToyota)

Not was it says on the label

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

We purchased this vehicle having done a fair amount of research but are disappointed. Economy is no better than a petrol version and without the performance. We'd been warned by the salesman that we wouldn't achieve the government test figures of 80+ mpg but should easily enjoy 60 mpg. We average 45mpg using the vehicle mainly for shopping trips of less than 15 miles and 48mpg on long runs of 100 miles or more. Our previous Yaris petrol averaged 42mpg so not good. Our driving stile is very conservative, light right foot and making sure the needle is not in the power range for more than is necessary to get up a hill at more than a snail's pace. The lack of power combined with poor economy is truly appalling and therefore journeys are not an enjoyable experience. Another grumble is the reversing light which does not throw enough light to see by when reversing at night. The dealer says that the light is only to indicate that the car is reversing, not to aid driving. Can you believe anything Toyota tell you?

Poorly built cheaply made.

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I recently changed my 2008 Yaris SR for this 2016 Disign Nav Automatic. The new car has a poor turning circle cheaply made a lot of wind noises less storage spaces in cabin. The driving position and comfort is better it is less to tax and cheaper to run. The brakes are unbelievable and the drive is fairly good. I wish I looked around a bit more rather than think it would be just a newer version of my old SR. The worst problem is the turning circle if I noticed on test drive how bad it is, I wouldn't of bought the car.

Night-time Reversing

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

This is a good car, pleasant to drive but night-time reversing is a nightmare. The one reversing light is not bright/strong enough to clearly reverse at night-time. The on board camera view is not scaled properly and you seem further AWAY from obstructions than you really are. When I rang the garage I bought it from I was told there was only one reversing light which was "for other road users to see the car AND NOT FOR ME TO SEE TO REVERSE" ...Well, I disagree...!!!

Reversing nightmare

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

This a good, pleasant little care to drive but night-time reversing is a nightmare. When I asked the dealer about the poor light he said there is only one reversing light. He said the light "is not to see whilst reversing but so the car can be seen" There is an onboard reversing camera but it makes objects appear much further away than they really are .

hybrid

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I like the hybrid part of the car. Really, really dislike the rear view lighting system for reversing at night. NOT ENOUGH LIGHT. Needs 2 lights not one, and needs high-brightness LED bulb that is CAN compatible - they do exist. I would like a reply to this from the manufacturers please, if possible.

Going the wrong way

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

We decided to go down a size from an Auris hybrid which had averaged a reasonable 57.4mpg over 2.5 years. The official consumption figures for the Yaris are better than the Auris, so - while we knew that we would not get near those official figures - we believed we would get better mpg with the Yaris. After 25 months, the average is just 53.7mpg which is more than disappointing. How can a smaller, lighter car get such a poor fuel consumption. They are both hybrids, both driven using cruise control extensively, with the same driving style.

my opinion of my Yaris hybrid

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

I wish it was a bit more comfortable on the suspension as I can "feel" all the road surfaces and I would have liked it to have more torque as overtaking is a bit laborious(?) but the fuel consumption is very good mid 50's to mid 60's doing mainly short runs

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

car itself is amazing ...never had any issues except when I changed tires and the sensors were inplaced and cost of fixing it was really high...although it's really economical, easy to drive stearing wheel is light, lots of space double boot and under job at all cleared and named , minus would be no CD player but Instwd of that you have bloothoot and chance to instil a GPS for no more the £100. have reversing camera what makes so much easier to park your car or just refers with a restricted view . beautyful shqpe makes you to want it more of that car, its perfect for city traffic drives on battery with safe your fuel costs a lot. in overall it's an amazing car worth every penny

Amazing car

TOYOTA YARIS HATCHBACK 2014-onwards

This model of Yaris has a very nice, fresh design and my grade (Icon) is equipped quite good for this money. 1.3 petrol engine is enough to city and up to legal UK speed limit. I made a over 1200 miles trip and also over 30000 miles in two years and I can honestly say - this car is worth it's money. No any faults so far. And it's big enough for me - I'm 6ft 6in tall
